About Stick Defenders

Stick Defenders is a merge-and-defend game: you buy stick soldiers, drag two identical ones together to merge them into a stronger unit, and let the resulting line hold off waves of attackers. It is idle-adjacent — the shooting happens on its own — but the decisions are yours, and they compound.

The tension is between spending money on more units now and saving to merge into higher tiers. Push too wide too early and your line is a row of weak soldiers when a boss wave arrives.

How to play Stick Defenders

  1. Buy two soldiers of the same tier and drag one onto the other to merge them.
  2. Keep merging upward rather than filling every slot — one high-tier unit outperforms four low ones.
  3. Spend the income between waves; money sitting idle does nothing.
  4. Watch the wave counter and bank for the boss rounds.

Tips for Stick Defenders

  • Do not fill all your slots early. Empty space is what lets you merge.
  • Upgrades that raise income pay for themselves within a couple of waves; damage upgrades do not always.
  • Boss waves outdamage the tier below them — reach the next tier before the wave arrives, not during it.
  • The game keeps running while you plan, so pause your buying rather than your thinking.

Frequently asked questions

Is Stick Defenders an idle game?
