About Getaway Shootout

Getaway Shootout is a race where you cannot walk. Each character moves by lurching left or right, one jump at a time, across a side-scrolling obstacle course — and the first to reach the getaway vehicle wins. Weapons and power-ups are scattered along the route to make sure nobody gets there cleanly.

Like the other New Eich Games titles it is deliberately clumsy: the ragdoll movement is the joke and the challenge at once. Two players can share a keyboard, which is where it is at its best.

How to play Getaway Shootout

You cannot run. Tap your two movement keys to lurch and hop in that direction.
Grab weapons as you pass them — the third key uses whatever you are carrying.
Knock your opponent backwards rather than racing cleanly; a shove costs them more than a good jump gains you.
Reach the escape vehicle at the end of the level first to take the round.

Tips for Getaway Shootout

Short taps beat held keys. Holding a direction usually launches you into a wall.
Height is a trap — falling costs more time than the shortcut saves.
Save a weapon for the final stretch rather than firing it the moment you pick it up.
Playing against a friend on one keyboard is the intended experience; the AI is a warm-up.
